How it works

With this AC coupled system, DC power from the array is converted into AC power to be consumed directly by the loads, any excess will be fed into the Selectronic SP PRO inverter where it will be converted to 48VDC in order to charge the battery bank. At night time or in times of no sun, the Selectronic SP PRO 7.5kW inverter will convert the 48V DC stored energy back into 240VAC power.

The technology

The 2 x Kaco inverters are 97% efficient and are linked together so communication can be achieved via RS485, the whole system is connected to the clients internet so the performance or any issues can be viewed remotely absolutely vital for such a remote system, the inverters are connected to a 48V Sonnenschien battery bank rated at 660Ah.

Success of the project to date

The hybrid 6.5 kilowatt (kW) system has provided the customer with a reliable steady power source, even in over cast weather or when the grid is down, the generator can be started to boost the charge into the batteries and supply the load, the system consistently supplies around 30 -40kWh/d.
